1) The First and Second Industrial Revolutions had a major impact on the world. You will examine the Industrial Revolution and its effect on society. Focus on an aspect of the Industrial Revolution and its impact on society. What was the impact of the Industrial Revolution, and the major issues involved? What conclusions can be drawn from the impact of the Industrial Revolution on society? What are the implications for today’s world society?

2) After WWII the Cold War officially began with the dropping of the Atomic Bombs on Japan. You will examine the rise of the Cold War and its impact on the world. What were the events that caused East (Soviet Union, China)-West (United States) polarization in the years following World War II that lead to the Cold War? Why did these events develop into a Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union? What conclusions can be drawn from the Cold War, the collapse of the Soviet Union and the United States becoming the only superpower? What are the implications for today’s world society?
Your exam will consist of 5-6 pages, typed, double spaced, using standard 1" margins and 12 point, Times New Roman font (or similar font). The essay is an individual assignment and should be your own work. This exam is worth 320 points.
